 Secret Things

Wattog here blogging about the things of God. . . there are secret things of God you know.

Within the earth there are many mysterious things hidden. If we just scratch the surface, we can’t come up with anything, but when we dig, we dig up things that have been buried in the earth for years and years and years!  When we dig in the Holy Bible, with the help of God’s Holy Spirit, things will be revealed to us as well. . ..really amazing, extraordinary things!  Here read this:

The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29

Read the entire chapter of Deuteronomy 29 and you’ll see that God established covenant with the children of Israel, to bless them and make of them. . .a people unto himself, but this covenant would also be for their children forever.

In the letter Paul wrote to the Galatians, he wrote:

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. Galatians 3:6-7
I will be using the term, ‘man’ in this blog, meaning ‘mankind’.  I don’t think man can find out all of God’s secrets, but God has chosen to reveal to man the things that will benefit man. . . like salvation.  Salvation is a mystery to those that don’t believe God, but is revealed to those that do believe God.  The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

Psalms 25:14   The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

Why would a wonderful thing like salvation be a mystery to some?  Shouldn’t it be clear for all to see? I think the pride of man keeps man from understanding the beautiful plan of salvation.  The cross of Christ cannot be comprehended by natural thinking man.  Natural thinking man may think they are not all that bad or wonder why they would even need saving in the first place?  This kind of prideful thinking can stand in the way of God’s salvation for them and it is a shrewd trick of the enemy.   The  enemy puts subtle thoughts like that in the minds of men. . .just enough to make them doubt God.  The devil also suggests to man that the Bible cannot be taken literally, come on a woman eating an apple caused all of man’s problems?  Thinking like this belittles God’s word and minimizes faith in Him.  To receive anything from God, one must believe God.

Only God can show the liberation gained by believing in the cross of Christ.  God shows it to the humble man who believes and calls on Him.  The cross of Christ is God’s epic plan to save man!  The main enemy of God, the devil, didn’t even see the cross coming, because the enemy cannot think in love terms.  Such great love is beyond him and beyond his followers.  They could never figure out that God would actually come down Himself and save man.  The devil suggests to man that the plan of salvation is not logical, that no one with any intelligence would accept such a notion.  This is pride again.

In his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul wrote this.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

FASCINATING FACT: After 3 days/on the third day, Jesus Christ rose from the dead.  Here are some, not all, of other things that happened in 3 days/the third day.

And that he [Christ] was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:4

Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:   Exodus 10:23
. . . the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.
Numbers 10:33
. . . within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land,
Joshua 1:11
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Matthew 12:40
And he [Paul] was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
Acts 9:9

on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.   Genesis 22:4  And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; John 2:1

Only pure hearts can see the saving power of the cross. Jesus taught in parables for a reason.  The parables were told so that the faithful ones would learn secrets kept from the foundation of the world.  Parables reveal some of the secrets of God.  What were the parables mainly about?  They were about the kingdom of God. . .God establishing His kingdom within His children.

Jesus said.

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.  .  .  Matthew 13:35

That man would not be overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21

That man would be filled with all joy and peace in believing, that man might abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13

Paul wrote to the Corinthians more about this salvation:

. . . I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. . . I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. . .That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. .  .we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2

Paul also wrote this:

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

And Paul also wrote this:

Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: Ephesians 3:8-11

The Word of God is how we see God; how the things of God are revealed to us, so I’m pretty sure God would want us to read His word.

 Jesus also said,

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Matthew 11:25

Peter wrote:

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:  1 Peter 2:2

Excerpt from the book, An Heir Wears, from the Heir Books series.
The world teaches us to discover ourselves, God teaches us to reach outside of ourselves and discover one another.  Our fellow man will look like love to us the more we visit the secret place.  In God’s light, we see things much differently; we see each other through the many colors of love.  The truth about God’s great love for us cannot be found in the world or in the wisdom of this world.

Children love genuinely.  Jesus said. . .
. . . Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:14

When children sing, Jesus loves me, it is quite different than when grown ups sing Jesus loves me.

It’s about pureness. . . . .
