Things Written

wattog here blogging about the THINGS of God again. Look at this verse I dug up for you this time, it is truly an amazing one!
And there are also many other THINGS which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. John 21:25

Now that is an awful lot of things He did, I’d say!
Even though this blogging bit and other online writing seems to be taking over in the literary world, there are still lots and lots of books out there and we know there are many different kinds of THINGS written in these books.  There are books about fictional THINGS; books about governmental THINGS; books about cultural THINGS; books about the THINGS of the rich and famous, etc. . .
The Holy Bible is the Book of all books and contains heavenly THINGS. . .the THINGS of God.
As I told you in the first blog, we geologists love to dig, and I just love digging in this new site I found. . .the Holy Bible.
Fascinating Fact: The Holy Bible mentions books.  Here are some of them:
The books of generations, like Adam’s Genesis 5:1 like Christ’s Matthew 1:1
The book of the covenant. Exodus 24:7
The book of the wars of the Lord. Numbers 21:14
The book of the law. Joshua 1:8
The book for our tears. Psalms 56:8
The judgment books. Daniel 7:10, Revelation 20:12
The Lamb’s book of life. Revelation 21:27
I submit to you that, when it’s all said and done, we all are going to want our names written in that last book. . .the Lamb’s book of life.  We know the Lamb is Jesus Christ.  We will discuss why Christ is referred to as the Lamb of God in another blog.
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.  John 1:29
Christ came to this earth to show us the THINGS of His Father, in fact, He was the one that introduced the concept of Creator God becoming ‘our Father’, remember we talked about that some in the first blog.
Jesus told His disciples.
For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all THINGS that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.  John 5:20
In this blog I’ve dug up some truly fascinating THINGS written in the Holy Bible that Jesus Christ did while He walked upon this earth.  The THINGS He did demonstrated just Who the Creator of all THINGS is really like, not what people say He’s like or think He’s like.  For this blog, I dug primarily in the gospels because they speak a lot about what Christ did while here on the earth.  What Christ did then, He has always done and will always do.
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
Like in the first blog, I have shortened the following verses for you, but it would be to your advantage to read the entirety of the text surrounding the verses.  These are just some of the things written that Christ did more than 2,000 years ago as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, the streets of Jerusalem, etc. . .
He told unclean spirits/demons what to do and they obeyed Him Mark 1:25-27
He taught with great authority and wisdom and mighty works were done by His hands Mark 6:2
He healed many different kinds of diseases, and cast out many devils Mark 1:32-34

He sat down with and ate with sinners Mark 2:16-17

He healed a withered hand Mark 3:1-5

He called and ordained 12 men to follow Him Mark 3:14-19

He cast a legion of demons out of one man Mark 5:1-15

He healed a woman who had a blood issue for 12 years Mark 5:25-34

He raised the ruler’s daughter from the dead Mark 5:35-42
He was transformed to glistening glory on a mountain top in front of Peter, James and John Mark 9:2-7
He cursed the fruitless fig tree and it withered Mark 11:12-14,20-23
He overthrew those exchanging money in the temple Mark 11:15-17
He answered hard questions Mark 12:13-34
He pointed out the significance of the widow’s 2 mites Mark 12:41-44
He gave His disciples specific instructions on how to prepare the place to have the Passover; it involved a city, a man and a pitcher of water Mark 14:12-16
He ate the Passover/last supper/first communion with His disciples Mark 14:17-26
He knew which disciple would betray him Mark 14: 42-43
He knew which disciple would deny Him Mark 14:29-30
He prayed for His disciples John 17
He died for our sins, rose again the 3rd day and was seen of  Cephas, then of the 12 then of over  500 brethren at once, then of Paul  1 Corinthians 15:3-8
He breathed on His disciples, and said to them, receive ye the Holy Ghost:  John 20:22
He turned the water into wine John 2:29
He told the woman of Samaria everything she had ever done John 4:29
He healed a man that had been sick for 38 years John 5:5-9
He fed thousands of people with a little boy’s lunch John 6:5-13
He walked on the water John 6:19-21
He calmed the sea Mark 4:39
He saved the adulteress woman from the accusing mob John 8:3-11
He healed a man who was blind from birth John 9:1-25
He raised a man named Lazarus from the dead, who had already been in the grave for 4 days John 11:1-44
He told of the end times Matthew chapter 24
He overcame temptation Luke 4
He spoke gracious words Luke 4:22
He blessed Simon’s fishing so much the net broke Luke 5:5-6
He perceived thoughts and intents of hearts Luke 5:22
He preached and showed the glad tidings of the kingdom of God Luke 8:1
He freed Mary called Magdalene from seven devils
Luke 8:2
In the crowds, He noticed the little man up in the tree Luke 19
He amazed people by showing God’s mighty power Luke 9:43
He forgave a thief Luke 23:42-43
He did all THINGS well  Mark 7:37
Even though Christ performed all of these miraculous and caring THINGS for the people, there were some people that didn’t like all the THINGS he was doing and they were bent on stopping Him.
Christ was rejected of the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes. . .
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful THINGS that he [Christ] did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,  Mark 8:31;  Matthew 21:15
I submit to you that there are many people still today that do not like the things Christ stands for and are still trying to destroy His reputation.  They are doing the same things they did back then.  Things like:
False accusations Mark 15:3
Trying to trip Him up by asking Him difficult questions Mark 12:13
These tactics are still used today I’d say!  There are hard questions out there, like this one. . . why does God let bad things happen to good people?  That one question alone has kept many away from the kingdom of God I think.  Christians are accused of things like hypocrisy and hate more and more today it seems.  Now maybe some Christians are hypocrites and maybe some Christians do hate, but not all of them, but people are quick to put them all in the same mold, you know what I mean?  What’s worse than that is they spread the hard questions and the accusations all around.  These are the kind of things that deter people from entering into God’s amazing grace.

I am convinced that THINGS down here on earth reveal to us THINGS about heaven above.  The Holy Bible is the Book of all books and filled with beautiful truths about God’s great love for us, way too many to be put in just one book, except for the Holy Book that is.  Holy God is wise enough to put the truths He wants us to know about life in one Book and He did so when he had His Words written down for us.
For whatsoever THINGS were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. . Romans 15:4

As A Little Child

wattog here blogging about. . . the THINGS of God.  Now I’m new to this blogging bit, so bear with me.  Let’s see. . .a blog needs a title, and as you can see already, I've named it. . . As a Little Child.  I hear a blog needs a catchy photo.  Okay, here’s a nice photo of a group of children, yes that should work quite well.  What a fine group they are.

We geologists do an awful lot of digging.  When digging for rocks, to better understand Earth’s history, we go to natural places, really anywhere natural rock can be found.  To better understand Heaven’s history, I would say we should go to the site given to us from Heaven. . .I found out that site is the Holy Bible.  It contains rock too you know. . . rock with eternal substance.  It is much more interesting than Earth rocks I’ll tell you that!  I dig in this site every day and I will be sharing with you from time to time what I dig up about Heaven’s history. I will not try to interpret the THINGS I dig up, but let the THINGS I dig up build meaning within you as you read them, because according to this astounding Book, the Words within it are spirit and life.

God’s Son, Jesus Christ told His followers back in the day. . .
. . . the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
The Holy Bible is filled from cover to cover with words about Jesus Christ!

Fascinating Fact: While digging, I discovered there are 20 entries of forms of the word ‘THING’ in the books of 1 & 2 Corinthians alone, in the King James Version that is. Why just go in and dig for yourselves. . .read both chapters and you’ll see what I mean.
Jesus Christ also told His followers when they were reprimanding people for bringing little children to Him;
. . . Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.  Mark 10:15

Now I wondered what Christ might have meant by saying such a thing as that and then I thought about how a child is.  A child, who is in a loving environment, has no worries; no wrinkles; they have beautiful fresh faces, like the photo I shared.  Everything is new and alive to children.  They are always learning, always exploring, kind of like us geologists.  If their parents offer them clothes or food or toys, they accept them, no questions asked.  Now adults, they're not quite as receptive, at least that is what I have observed through the years.
The Creator of the heavens is offering the whole world a most precious gift. . .Salvation.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
I think a lot of people have to get past something the Bible refers to as ‘unbelief’.

You know the Holy Bible is also God’s gift to us and it is quite amazing!  For the life of me, I don't know why people don’t read it more.  Anyway, back to children. . .3 things come to mind when I think of little children:  Innocence,   Honesty and   Love.

Peter, who was one of the very first followers of Christ, wrote a couple of letters to God’s children. Be sure to read the first letter called 1 Peter in the Holy Bible for yourselves.

Peter told these followers they were:
Born again into a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ to an eternal inheritance reserved in heaven for them.
He also told them that;
The prophets of old had inquired and searched diligently into this salvation plan and they had actually even prophesied of the grace that would one day come to those who would believe in Christ and also that the holy angels desire to look into the things of salvation.
This salvation is pretty amazing I'd say!

Peter told these followers they were now, in Christ;
Born again not of corruptible seed or seed that would perish, (I'm pretty sure he is referring to our natural parents) but of incorruptible seed, the word of God that lives on. Believing what the word of God says regarding salvation in Christ is what brings about new birth and God becomes 'our Father' and we live on.

Christ taught his followers many good THINGS from His Father when He walked upon this Earth.  He is still teaching the same good THINGS today to those that have received Him.  He does this by filling their hearts with the very Holy Spirit of God!
Well, being the geologist I am I had to keep digging and I found many good THINGS given by God to those that believe in His Son, and I made a list for you.  Now this is by no means all the good THINGS, for there are far too many good THINGS to fit into just one blog.  Read this next verse and you'll see what I mean.
And there are also many other THINGS which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. John 21:25
~Remember, Jesus shows us the good THINGS of His Father, Who becomes 'our Father' when we accept Christ!
So here is what I have dug up for you so far. When you read them, read them as a little child. . .with innocence, with honesty, with love.

Before reading the list though, read what Paul wrote to the Corinthians.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old THINGS are passed away; behold, all THINGS are become new.  And all THINGS are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 2 Corinthians 5:17-18

We geologists could never dig up the valuable things you’re about to read about, digging around in the Earth!
I have shortened the following verses for you, but it would be to your advantage to open up your Bibles and read them in their entirety so you will get the full meaning, if you know what I mean.  Now, remember these are the good THINGS of God given to His children. . .in Christ.

A child of God will desire these good THINGS, if you are not sure you are a child of God and you feel like you want to be, you must believe, receive and acknowledge what God has said about Christ Jesus! Here, read this.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10 NLT

So if you have never done this, do it now, that is if you believe.  If you need to know more, I will be blogging about the good THINGS of God once a week, so come back and discover more.
And lastly, but certainly not leastly I want you to see this astounding good THING I found;
. .  . For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.1 John 3:8

Wait, before you leave, I have just one more interesting discovery to share with you.  I found it astounding that Paul wrote this to the Galatians;
My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, Galatians 4:19

Excerpt from the book, An Heir Wears, from the Heir Books series.
Children love genuinely.  Jesus said. . . . . . Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:14 When children sing, Jesus loves me, it is quite different than when grown-ups sing Jesus loves me.
It’s about pureness. . . . .
